Jetlag Blues and Pinks

...the important sound of things falling apart...

Finally back in Tokyo...for some reason this trip has kind of a bittersweet edge to it already. Maybe it's just the fact that I have had 2-3 hours of sleep after the usual grind of the flight over. But the morning has definitely been slightly odd.

When I'm here, I usually rapidly suck in all that is in my surroundings. I'm staying in roughly the same place I stayed last year but damned if I can seem to remember much about it from last year. For the first time in many years, I felt a bit lost. Maybe because a few key landmarks have changed radically enough to warrant a second and third look.

But after dousing myself with coffee, sitting and reading The Big Sleep (Raymond Chandler's best) and listening to French-Argentinian love songs (lots of "amour"'s and "te amo"'s and melodica/accordian) by the Gotan Project, things are seeming right with the world. Well, this world at least.

It's off to a weekend of adventure outside of Tokyo (also for the first time in many years)...more to follow.
